What makes our region special? Hear it straight from one of our local experts: Wilbur, a French Bulldog and elected Mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, since 2020.

How did you get this job?

Our campaign coincides with the U.S. Presidential election, when canines and other animals throw their best paw (or claw) in the ring. Each vote requires a $1 donation and the money goes to the Rabbit Hash Historical Society. When I launched my "Vote for Wilbur, He's All Ears" campaign in 2020, I was just a fuzzy puppy. I won the election with 13,145 votes.

Tell us about your platform.

I'm just a dog who loves pawitics and making people smile. My heart lies in fundraising to serve the local community. I've raised $4,000 for non-profits and rescues during my term.

What's been your biggest challenge?

My challenges are nothing compared to what some animals are facing - homelessness, abuse and neglect. I have no complaints.

Is there a message you'd like to leave your constituents with?

The new mayoral election is approaching quickly - vote early and often for your favorite candidates. I won't be seeking re-election... because I'm running for President of the United States instead! I'll be announcing my running mate soon.
