It’s undeniable. The historic neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine has become a focal point of culture and entertainment in the Cincy region. Attractions abound, spreading from the Gateway Quarter outward to the North, East, and West. One of the best institutions in the area has resided there the entire time, showcasing contemporary works in historic buildings for over 35 years.

Unknowing visitors may walk by the 1100 block of Vine Street, passing the statuesque white pillars and ticket windows - unaware of the magic that waits inside. But Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati (ETC) subscribers and regular theater goers know: those that have not been to an Ensemble show are missing out on some of the best entertainment this region has to offer.

Ensemble Theatre has deep ties to OTR

Since 1986, the theater has occupied the same spaces on Vine Street. The mission of the ETC is to offer accessible, socially conscious works to the whole community, which meant standing its ground as the surrounding area has changed over time. The buildings it owns have undergone renovations totaling over 4.2 million dollars for a restorative facelift, while preserving the historic footprint and intimate feel of the space. Updated and additional restrooms, a second lobby with a well-stocked bar, additional seating and year-round programming newer features that are available for guests.

It’s Bigger on the Inside

The Ensemble Theatre is comprised of three buildings on Vine Street, taking up 40% of the city block. What’s inside other than the theater? Meeting rooms, as well as a venue for large and small gatherings, conferences, workshops and weddings. Essentially, a multi-purpose community space.

“We really wanted to provide an atmosphere that was welcoming for people before and after the show, as well as a space for community use and enjoyment,” says D. Lynn Myers, producing artistic director.

Brides and grooms, get booking – the space, prime location and historic je ne sais quoi make for a unique wedding venue.
