Just east of downtown Cincinnati you'll find the adjoining neighborhoods of Hyde Park and Oakley. Home to Cincy classics such as Aglamesis Brothers Ice Cream and Candy and the historic 20th Century Theatre music and event venue, you'll also find endless things to do in these vibrant communities.
The History of Hyde Park/Oakley
Hyde Park was initially founded in 1892. This very residential and upscale area comes from humble roots, having initially been sparsely populated and rural. Located just six miles from the Central Business District, the focal point of this neighborhood is Hyde Park Square, which spans two blocks along the busy Erie Avenue.
Adjoining Hyde Park is Oakley, another welcoming neighborhood characterized by beautiful homes and countless restaurants, shopping and attractions. Initially named "Four Mile" due to its proximity to downtown Cincinnati, this neighborhood was founded in 1898 and experienced rapid growth from the start.
Things to do in Hyde Park/Oakley
20th Century Theatre: An iconic landmark of Oakley since it was built in 1941. This venue originally started as one of Cincinnati’s first neighborhood cinemas. Today, the 20th Century Theatre hosts live events and special occasions.
Breakout Games: Escape rooms for everyone to enjoy. Each room has its own unique storyline and solution.
Hyde Park Farmer’s Market: Located at Hyde Park Square every Sunday, fresh produce is highlighted and sold to locals.
Hyde Park Square: Home to over 100 unique shops, restaurants and events, this is one of Cincinnati’s oldest and most popular shopping spots.
Wasson Way Trail: A great trail to go for a walk, run or bike ride. The trail passes by Rookwood Commons, which is another great shopping spot the next neighborhood over of Norwood.
