Norwood

Norwood, one of the Cincy Region’s most up-and-coming neighborhoods, spans three square miles and is home to a variety of local attractions and institutions. From Xavier University and its Cintas Center, to tons of shopping spots, bars and restaurants, learn more about what makes the “Gem of the Highlands” special.

History of Norwood

Before its establishment as a city in 1903, Norwood was known as “Sharpsburg.” The area was surrounded by forest, and the “Norwood” name came as a shorter version of “North Wood.” In the 1900s, Norwood was home to factories of major companies such as U. S. Playing Cards, U. S. Printing and General Motors/Fisher Body.

Norwood is located very close to Oakley and Hyde Park, which are two other popular neighborhoods in Cincinnati for families and young professionals. Thanks to the growth and revitalization of these three communities, you’ll find a variety of things to do in Norwood.
