From underground treks that allow you to immerse yourself in history to guided tours that feature a full flight of signature brews, there’s no shortage of amazing ways to experience the region’s numerous breweries— already far outnumbering the total once in operation during the pre-Prohibition boom.
The Brewing Heritage Trail
History buff bliss, this option offers multiple ways to experience Cincinnati’s iconic role in brewing nearly two centuries of beer. Choose from a set of ticketed tours, or download the free app and be your own guide on this urban walking trail. Listen to stories, find bronze medallions, and view photos and public art projects right from your smartphone. Self-guided and ticketed tours are available year-round for the 2.3-mile trail.
Cincy Brew Bus
To best explore the history and flavor of local craft breweries, make your reservation on the award-winning Cincy Brew Bus. A wealth of comprehensive tour options are available: Choose three- or four-stop tastings, brew hop on the streetcar, explore Butler County or the Underground Tunnels, or book your own private tour. You’ll sample a generous 18 ounces at each stop, plus be served with local history, snacks, souvenirs, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access. Tours run at select times Monday through Sunday.
Brunch, Beers & Breweries
A Moerlein original, this two-site collaboration begins at the Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. Malt House in Over-the-Rhine. You’ll travel by streetcar to the Lager House downtown for brunch and brews, continue with a brewery tour and Findlay Market excursion, experience key historic beer sites (and a tale or two) before the trip ends with a final flight at the Malt House. If a well-known Beer Baron leads your tour himself, don’t be too surprised. Tours run one Sunday monthly.
Queen City Underground Tour
Designed to be both educational and fun, this walking tour dives headfirst into the rich legacy behind many of the historic buildings throughout Over-the-Rhine and the Gateway District. You’ll visit past and present brewery sites, newly unearthed tunnels, hidden crypts, and more— and walk away with a new appreciation for the Queen City’s illustrious past. Tours available weekends in spring, weekly during summer.
