What is Arena Football?

Arena football is designed to bring fans closer to the action. Played with eight players on each side instead of eleven, the game takes place on a smaller 50-yard field, creating a faster style of play.

With constant scoring opportunities, quick transitions, and non-stop energy, arena football delivers an action-packed experience that’s easy for new fans to follow and exciting for seasoned fans to watch.

What to Expect at Truist Arena

One of the best parts about attending a game at Truist Arena, located in Highland Heights, KY on Northern Kentucky University’s campus, is that there truly isn’t a bad seat in the house. The indoor setting creates an up-close and personal experience, allowing fans to feel the speed and intensity of every play.

Expect a lively atmosphere, music, in-game entertainment, and a crowd that’s fully engaged from kickoff to the final whistle. It’s not just about watching football — it’s about being part of the action.

For fans looking to elevate their experience, the Kentucky Barrels offer a unique premium space called the Rickhouse, located right along the field. This exclusive area is available to rent and is perfect for group outings, celebrations, or corporate events, giving fans a one-of-a-kind, up-close game day experience.

Game day isn’t complete without great food and drinks, and the Barrels are bringing local flavor into the experience. We are even testing items for fans to enjoy like a “Barrel Burger” along with classic stadium snacks and beverages available throughout the game.

A standout feature is the Wenzel Bourbon Lounge, presented by Wenzel Distillery. This space replaces the traditional beer garden and offers a relaxed hangout spot with great views of the field. It’s the perfect place to grab a drink and socialize or take in the halftime atmosphere.
