More than 200 meeting professionals will gather from across the Midwest in downtown Cincinnati, Feb. 9-11, for the 20th Annual Meeting Professionals International (MPI) MidAmerica Educational Conference.

“These planners are certainly some of the most elite professionals in the industry and we are honored to host them in Cincinnati,” said Julie Calvert, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The meeting professionals that we will host represent more than 100 organizations, including many that would consider bringing a major convention, meeting, or event to the Cincinnati region.”

MPI has a global community of 60,000 meeting and event professionals with 70 chapters and clubs in 75 countries worldwide. During the MidAmerica Educational Conference, representatives from the Ohio and Kentucky chapters will participate in continuing education and networking opportunities while also being introduced to Cincinnati’s meetings and events offerings.

Meeting planners will tour through many downtown Cincinnati hotels and will meet with local industry professionals during their stay. Special offsite events will showcase Cincinnati’s local hospitality industry, with receptions at Rhinegeist Brewery and Tokyo Kitty.

“Cincinnati has such an abundance of options for groups, ranging from top-notch speakers and venues to exciting and distinctive attractions and experiences,” said Andy Conklin, Executive Vice President at the Cincinnati USA CVB. “Together with our local hospitality partners, we are showing off the best of our city to entice these planners to book their events here.”

Programming for the MidAmerica Educational Conference, which will be held at the Duke Energy Convention Center and the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, will include discussions on best practices for:
  • Reducing waste during events
  • Encouraging digital wellness
  • Responding to active threats in an event setting
  • Creating inclusive events
  • Coordinating International events
  • …and more.
Comedian Dena Blizzard, known for her “One Funny Mother” off-Broadway show and video series will open the conference.
