The Cincinnati Open is a combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tennis tournament held annually in Mason, Ohio - just north of Cincinnati. Featuring the sport's top-ranked men's and women's players, the Cincinnati Open is among the world's most prestigious and historic tournaments, dating back to 1899. While the tournament is steeped in history, this year's event will feature extensive campus renovations ($260 million worth!), two full weeks of action and an elevated fan experience for all. Here's what you can expect!
Tournament Expansion: More Matches, More Days, More Action
One of the biggest changes for 2025 is the expansion of the tournament’s format:
- The event now runs 14 days, from August 5 to August 18, instead of the usual nine days. This means qualifying rounds begin on August 5–6, with finals concluding on Monday, August 18 .
- Both the ATP and WTA singles draws have been expanded from 56 to 96 players, aligning it with other elite events like the Indian Wells Open, Mutua Madrid Open, and Miami Open.
This extension means an opening weekend headlined by star players, filling out sessions with high-level tennis across more courts, and providing fans with what they want: more tournament action!
Star Power – Familiar Faces in 2025
The 2025 Cincinnati Open will feature the top 65 players from both the men's and women's tours.
-
World No. 1s: Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) and Jannik Sinner (Italy) will be defending their titles.
-
